Battle of the Catalaunian Plains
In 451 AD Battle of the Catalaunian Plains: Roman and Visigoths forces defeated Attilia the Hun in north east France, thus halting his invasion of Roman Gaul – although the exact date is disputed. Atillia died from natural causes in 453 AD whilst celebrating his latest marriage (the conventional account!) to the young and beautiful Iidico who was probably Germanic.
